A page means a section of the site with its own address, such as your home page or a service page. Policies, terms and the cookie notice are extra to your allowance, not part of it.

Something bigger? E-commerce? Or just one page?

If what you need isn't listed above, get in touch with me directly and we'll work out what actually fits. Bespoke, cost-efficient quotes for whatever your business needs — no packages forced on you and no obligation.

Aftercare

Keeping it looked after

A website isn't finished when it goes live. Aftercare covers the ongoing side so it stays fast, secure and current without you having to think about it.

Aftercare — quarterly

Hosting, software updates, security and backups, plus edits to your content whenever things change. Additional work quoted at a reduced rate while you're on aftercare.

£75every 3 months
Aftercare — annual

Exactly the same, paid once a year. Works out £50 cheaper than paying quarterly.

£250per year · saves £50

Aftercare is optional. If you'd rather not take it, the website is still yours — you'd just need to arrange your own hosting and updates, and any changes would be quoted as one-off work.

Audit, fix and report

A one-off site-wide audit of an existing website. I find what's holding it back, fix it, and send you a written report explaining what was wrong and what I changed.

£125one-off

Honest note on timescales: technical fixes and Google Business Profile work can show up within weeks, but ranking for competitive search terms usually takes a few months of consistent work. Anyone promising page one in a fortnight isn't being straight with you.

Social media

Social media management

Posting and reaching are two different jobs. Most packages publish from day one and hope an audience turns up. These are weighted the other way — the first three months lean towards actively getting you in front of the right local businesses, then shift back towards content once there's an audience to feed.

One-off setup

Full audit of every account, optimisation where it's needed, brand templates built in your colours, competitor review, a twelve-week content plan and tracking set up. Charged once, at the start.

£395one-off
Four-week sprint

Setup and four weeks of active work with no ongoing commitment. Profiles rebuilt, brand templates and a post editor you keep, a bank of ready-to-post graphics, a twelve-week plan, tracking in place and four weeks of live outreach. Comes with committed minimums, measured against where your accounts stand on day one and written into the quote.

£995no commitment

Advertising budgets never touch my invoice. If you choose to put money behind posts it goes straight to the platform on your own card. What I do is advise which posts are worth boosting and who to aim them at. It's entirely optional and the organic work stands without it.

Three-month initial term, then rolling with 30 days' notice. Social takes a quarter to show its worth, and anything shorter judges the work before it's had a chance to do anything. The price quoted is the price you pay.

Websites & packages

What counts as a page?

Any section of the site with its own web address — your home page, an about page, a service page, a contact page. Your privacy policy, terms and conditions and cookie notice sit on top of that allowance rather than eating into it, so a three page package really does give you three pages of your own content.

Which package do I actually need?

If you mainly need to exist properly online and be easy to contact, Starter does that job. If you offer several distinct services, or you want to be found in more than one town, Expert gives each of those its own page, which is what search engines actually reward. Tell me what you do and I'll say which one fits — including if that's the cheapest one.

Are the policies and terms really included?

Yes, on every package. A privacy policy and cookie notice aren't optional extras, they're a legal requirement for any site collecting enquiries, so charging separately for them never sat right with me. They're written for your business rather than pasted from a generator.

Do you write the content or do I?

Either. Most people would rather not write it, so I do — from a conversation about what you do and how you'd describe it. If you'd prefer to write your own, that's completely fine and it usually speeds the build up.

How long does a website take?

Two to three weeks for a Starter or Growth build, from the point I have your photos and any content you're supplying. Expert usually runs three to four. Larger projects get a dated schedule written into the quote rather than a vague estimate.

Can I add pages later?

Yes, £50 a page whenever you need them. Sites are built so that adding to them later is straightforward rather than a rebuild, and if you're on aftercare it's usually the same week.

What if I need something bigger than seven pages?

Then a package isn't the right shape for you and I'd quote it individually. Shops, booking systems, member areas and anything that needs to talk to other software get one fixed price agreed before I start.

Do I own the website when it's finished?

Yes. The site, the content and the images you've supplied are yours. You're not renting it from me and you're not locked in — if you ever wanted to move it elsewhere I'd hand over what's needed rather than make it difficult.

Aftercare & support

What does aftercare actually cover?

Hosting, software updates, security and backups, plus edits to your content whenever things change — new prices, new services, new photos, new staff. It's the difference between a website that stays current and one that quietly goes stale.

Do I have to take it?

No. It's optional and the website is yours either way. Without it you'd arrange your own hosting and keep the software updated yourself, and any changes would be quoted as one-off work rather than covered.

Why quarterly rather than monthly?

Honestly, because chasing small monthly payments costs more in admin than it's worth for a business my size. Quarterly keeps the price lower than it would otherwise be, and the annual option saves you £50 on top.

What happens if I cancel?

The website stays yours. You'd need to arrange hosting elsewhere and I'll help you move it rather than hold it hostage. There's no exit fee and no minimum term beyond the quarter you've already paid for.

How quickly do changes get made?

Small edits are usually same or next working day. Anything bigger I'll tell you when I can get to it rather than leave you guessing. You're dealing with me directly, so there's no ticket system to disappear into.

What counts as additional work rather than an edit?

Changing text, swapping photos, updating prices and adding a service to an existing page are edits and they're covered. A whole new page, a new feature or a redesign is additional work. That gets quoted before anything starts, at a reduced rate while you're on aftercare.

Can I add aftercare later?

Yes. It's the same price whether you take it at the start or come back to it a year later — £75 a quarter or £250 a year.

SEO

What does site-wide SEO include?

Keyword and competitor research for your actual services and the towns you cover, page titles and descriptions written for each page, heading structure set up properly, and technical checks across the whole site — speed, mobile layout, indexing and broken links.

How long before I see results?

Technical fixes and Google Business Profile work can show within a few weeks. Ranking for competitive search terms usually takes a few months of consistent work. I'd rather tell you that now than have you disappointed in week three.

Can you guarantee page one?

No, and nobody honestly can. Google doesn't sell placement and doesn't publish its ranking rules, so anyone guaranteeing a position is either guessing or targeting a search term nobody uses. What I can do is make sure nothing on your site is holding it back.

What's the difference between the £75 and the £125?

The £75 is SEO built into a new site as it's made. The £125 is a one-off audit of a site that already exists — I find what's wrong, fix it, and send you a written report explaining what I changed and why.

Do I still need SEO if I've got a Google Business Profile?

They do different jobs. Your Business Profile wins the map results, which matters enormously for local trades. On-site SEO wins the ordinary blue-link results underneath. Most businesses want both, and the profile work is the cheaper of the two to get right.

Do you offer ongoing monthly SEO?

For most small businesses I don't think it's worth the money, so I don't push it. Get the site right once, keep the Business Profile active, and add pages as you add services. If you're in a genuinely competitive market I'll say so and quote monthly work then.

Will my site rank for my town?

That depends on how many competitors are already doing it well, which varies hugely between trades and areas. I'll look at what you're up against before you spend anything and tell you whether it's realistic.

Social media

Why is social media so much more than a website?

Because one is a project and the other is a job. A website is built once and then looked after. Social media is daily work — writing, designing, approaching businesses, replying — every week, indefinitely. The monthly price reflects hours that recur.

Is advertising spend included?

No, and it never goes through my invoice. If you decide to put budget behind posts it's paid straight to the platform on your own card. I advise on what's worth boosting and who to target, but the money stays between you and them.

Which platforms do you cover?

Whichever ones make sense for your business — commonly Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X and your Google Business Profile. There's no benefit in me posting to a platform your customers don't use, so we'd agree that at the start.

Can I try it before committing to months of it?

Yes. The four-week sprint is £995, covers setup and four weeks of active work, and carries no ongoing commitment. Everything produced is yours to keep whether you continue or not.

Why a three-month initial term?

Social takes a quarter to show its worth. Judging month one on enquiries means judging it before there's an audience to enquire. Three months is the shortest period where the answer means anything — after that it's rolling with 30 days' notice.

Who owns the content and the accounts?

You do, throughout. I work with admin access to accounts that stay in your name, and the graphics, templates and content produced are yours to keep if we stop working together.

What do you need from me?

Photos of your work, mainly — phone photos are fine and a WhatsApp thread is the easiest way to send them. Beyond that, account access, a starter batch of twenty or thirty images so month one isn't waiting on anyone, and approvals turned around reasonably quickly.

Payment & terms

Is there VAT on top?

No. The prices on this page are what you pay.

How do I pay?

Smaller packages are usually split in two — half to get started and the balance before the site goes live. Larger projects are split into stages, set out in the quote before you agree to anything.

Is the quote fixed or an estimate?

Fixed. If a job takes me longer than I planned for, that's mine to absorb rather than yours to pay for. The only time a price changes is if you ask for something that wasn't in the original scope, and you'd be told before it's done.

What if I'm not happy with the design?

Revisions during the build are expected and included — you see the site privately before it goes anywhere near live, and we change it until it's right. I'd much rather spend an extra afternoon on it than hand over something you're not proud of.

What isn't included in the prices?

Professional photography, paid advertising budgets and the cost of your domain name. Anything else outside the package gets quoted before it's done, never added to an invoice afterwards.

Do you work outside Dorset?

Yes, across the UK. I'm based in Poole and happy to meet face to face if you're local, but most of the process happens by phone and email and location makes no difference to the price.

Who actually does the work?

I do. HR Website Design is me, Hayden Ross. Nothing is passed to a freelancer or an overseas team, so the person you speak to on the first call is the person who builds the site and the person who answers the phone a year later.
